Special Events
We are involved in a number of special events this season. As we settle into our new home, we will continue to be an active member of our community. These are some of the events we have planned.
Fall Festival, Chile Cook-Off
Think you have the best tasting green chile in town? Enter the green chile cookoff and try to win Best Green Chile by the judges, or by People's Choice. This year's winner was Mo Davis, Summit Catering, and David Willis placed 2nd and 3rd. There was also a scarecrow making contest, pumpkin carving, and bobbing for apples for the kids. It was a fun filled day with activities for everyone, plus the chance to taste some really good green chiles. Join us next year as we expand the green chile competition city-wide, and add more activities.
Art in the Gardens--May and September
Our Annual Art Fair in the Garden features the work of local artists from the the Colorado Springs Garden Artists and other local groups. This is a great opportunity to discover local talent, meet artists and acquire original quality artwork. Other vendors offer jewlery, handmade soaps, clothing and gifts. We have food, live music and chile roasting in the fall! Join us this fall as we continue this annual tradition. It really is fun.
Hummingbird Festival -- Starsmore Discovery Center in Cheyenne Canon, May
We are proud to provide the plants for the annual plant sale during the Hummingbird Festival at Starsmore Discovery Center in Cheyenne Canyon. All of the plants are selected to attract hummingbirds to your yard while being drought tolerant and performing well in our climate.
We donate all proceeds from our plant sale to the Friends of Cheyenne Canon. Last year we donated over $600.
